Yogyakarta, January 2009: Marking the beginning of 2009, HFH Indonesia hosted the biggest corporate volunteers in Yogyakarta. More than two hundreds employees from PT Sanghiang Perkasa (Kalbe Nutritionals), fast growing health foods company in Indonesia, deployed their employees from all over Indonesia to build in Habitat’s site in Sub District Pakem and Kalasan, Yogyakarta. With a theme of the day “Ayo Membangun Bersama” (Let’s Build Together), the team was divided into two groups and two communities to build retaining walls and road compaction for a whole day. Irawati Setiady, President Director Kalbe Nutritionals said, “This is one of the ways for us to exercise our core values which is touching lives. Touching lives is not only through the our products consumed by the public but through phisycal involvement. Because we rarely experience this situation, I hope it will be the unforgetable moment for all of us”. Transferring materials and pouring concretes were activities of the volunteers among other things. “Last year we have hosted more than 1500 volunteers and this year, we try to reach 2500 volunteers to join our program. Your participation is significant for Habitat’s volunteer program. Because your whole trip’s theme is amazing awaits, I hope this experience will be amazing for all of you” said Tri Budiardjo, National Director Habitat for Humanity Indonesia.
