In connection to 10 years of Habitat for Humanity Indonesia existence, Batam as one of the affiliates in Indonesia along with the home partners will celebrate the first great dedication of houses at Pasar biru, Kavling Seroja II  Dapur 12 Kelurahan Sei, Batam on 23 June 2007. Since its establishment in 2004, Batam has been tied in a partnership with almost 500 low income families, local government and various local and multi national companies.

Batam as one of industrial cities in Indonesia inevitably magnetizes job seekers and entrepreneurs to endeavor a business or to seek a job. This caused problems for Batam authority in relation to expand the business as well as shelters. Habitat came as the local authority partners to eradicate homelessness and poverty housing through building simple, decent, safe and affordable house in accordance to Habitat vision and mission.

The geographical proximity also advantages Batam to have partners with Singaporean individuals and companies. The partners can come directly to see the program and the progress and thus, invite their involvement in the development of Habitat program in Batam.
