Meulaboh, 22 March 2007: More than 600 home partners or equal to 212 families from Peuribu and Cot Kumbang Darat Villages, Sub District of Arongan Lambalek, Aceh Barat organized an appreciation gathering among themselves to express gratitude to HFH Indonesia of the commitment to rebuild their houses and villages affected by Tsunami December 2004. This gathering was fully organized by the community and attended by the stake holders and local government representatives of Aceh Barat. On behalf of the community, Head of Peuribu, Amirrudin, illustrated his gratefulness to HFH by saying, “A partnership between Habitat and our community can be symbolized as a unity in the same way as water, if water meets with water, it will be thus unified. When it separated, it will bond again in the future.” To show a gratefulness of entering new houses, the community also prepared a local traditional ceremony called “peseujuk” and hoped for a prospectus future for them.
