Friends of Habitat and HFH Indonesia Kicked Off House Rehabilitation Project for 1000 Families Affected by Flood

 Bekasi 17 February 2007:  30 Friends of Habitat and HFH Indonesia started the house rehabilitation project for 1000 unfortunate families affected by Flood in North Bekasi and North Jakarta today.

The commencement of house rehabilitation was carried out for the first five families in Desa Pulo Asem, Kecamatan Sukakarsa by voluntarily help from Friends of HFH Indonesia like General Electrics and Pundi Amal SCTV. The volunteers mutually worked in digging, flooring and building wall of the houses. Aside from helping house rehabilitation, holistic assistance was also given to the community by providing free health treatment from Hope World Wide organization and free logistics from General Electrics and Chevrolet Trooper Indonesia.

 

Overall, to response flood victims, the Jakarta Flood Disaster Response Project will focus on rehabilitation of the homes of low-income families most severely damaged by the recent massive floods in the Indonesian capital and spread into 500 families in North Bekasi and other 500 families in other areas such as Penjaringan and Tanjung Priok in North Jakarta.
