The First Ever Lautan Luas Group Volunteer Program Helped to Rebuild Turen Community, Yogyakarta.

Yogyakarta, November 2006. On Thursday 9 November 2006, 42 people employees from PT Lautan Luas Tbk and associated companies took part in the first-ever Lautan Luas Volunteer Program. Headed by Managing Director of PT Lautan Luas Tbk, Jimmy Masrin, the Lautan Luas group volunteers helped to rebuild a total of 13 houses over the next one-and-a-half days in Turen, Yogyakarta.

 

This volunteer program was divided into four teams; each team was accompanied by a Habitat for Humanity representative and assigned specific tasks included debris clearing, sand filtering, bricklaying, concreting, plastering, and painting.

 

In an effort to forge a lasting relationship with the people of Turen, moreover, to support them rebuild their lives, Lautan Luas donated 37 boxes containing clothing, kitchenware, schoolbooks, stationery, and children’s comics, as well as 80 boxes of instant noodles. PT. Lautan Luas Tbk and associated companies helped Habitat for Humanity Indonesia Disaster Response Yogyakarta to rebuild 50 community houses and Otsuka Chemical rebuild 31 community houses, 12 houses for Lautan Luas employee and 1 clinic.
